I feel a bit like a short-order cook. This morning, on her way to a meeting of the Women's Fellowship at our church, my wife reminded me that I had promised to make her a website for that group.

Nothing elaborate, you know, it just needs to have private area where "the girls" can get to know one another, and exchange prayer requests, and recipes. Maybe a forum or two, perhaps a place for book reviews, oh, and wouldn't it be neat if there were a way to have "groups" within the main body, so that those who share a craft or hobby, and have children the same age could talk privately about those things?

Hey?, and a photo gallery would be pretty neat as well. But could you make it so we can leave comments about the pictures?

Hmmmm, nothing ground-breaking here, but a pretty highly complex website nonetheless. But I figured I'd better get started, and I made the Joomla! installation on the development server at 10:06 am.

At 3:15 pm, having taken a civilized 45 min lunch (not at my desk), I pronounced it "finished". Oh, there isn't much content there yet, and I didn't really test everything cross-browser yet. But to have a site of this complexity done in a little over 4 hours is incredible.

Training her and her buddies how to use it may take the rest of my life, but I'm still impressed with the speed of the thing.
